Tickets of Cheer

Our good friend Steve Chapman runs a brilliant project. It’s called What the February.

“Like all of my projects, What the February (#WTFEB) started as a question - “I wonder what would happen if I encouraged others to do the weird stuff I do?” So, for the month of February 2020, I set a series of weird and wonderful daily challenges that saw people from around the world stepping out of their creative comfort zone and producing some truly amazing work including art, dance, poetry and weird social experiments.
There was such a hunger for #WTFEB to come back for 2021 partly due to how great it was the previous year but also due to the fact that people really wanted a creative outlet/distraction as a result of a year of Covid restrictions. The result was that #WTFEB 2021 was so much bigger and challenges such as “Tickets of Cheer” helped to grow a wonderfully kind and wonky #WTFEB Instagram community.
I like to think that the challenges set in February inspire people to creatively let go for the rest of the year but for those in need of a top-up, it will definitely be back on the 1st February 2022.

#WTFEB FACT: Being lazy, the only reason I picked February as the month for the challenge was because it had the least amount of days and would be less work for me!”

This year, Steve asked if we’d like to collaborate and set the challenge for a day. This was our brief - Make three tickets of cheer to give to others. It can say whatever you want and look however you want it to as long as it aims to bring cheer to the person or people (or animals) who receive it. You can hand your tickets to somebody else, put them through the door, tag somebody on social media, photograph and e-mail them, put them in the post or leave them out in public for people to find. If everyone taking part in this challenge sends out three bits of cheer into the world then it will make February 16th 2021 shine a little brighter.

We felt so much joy as we watched the submissions roll in throughout the day, so we thought we’d pop some of our favourites up on the blog incase you, or someone you know, could do with a ticket of cheer at the moment.
