Good Morning
You wake with that feeling again. That feeling that something is amiss. Stupid alarm. So annoying, like really annoying. You turn it off for the third time. You sigh. You pick up your phone. You swipe down to check your notifications. Ahhhh ffs so many emails. You go to Instagram instead. Then Facebook, fair few notifications in there. Ah it's nearly half past. Better get up. Better check the calendar. Hmmm meeting at 9. But you haven't prepped for. No time. Yeeeeeah you've got a meeting to prep for. You shower, quick. You make breakfast. You eat breakfast quick. Wait. You need to write that proposal. You can multitask right? Do it at the same time. Put down toast. Take phone call. OK yes. You can do that. Speak to you later. Thanks. You eat. You make quick coffee. Look at phone... STOP.
You wake with a feeling. There's that feeling again. Something is amiss but what? Reach for phone. No. What did they say? You sought advice, you listened. Do you listen? What did they say you should do? No not should. Could. do instead. Your alarm goes off..."Birds in the skyyy you know how I feel..." Phone down. You do have time. You have time. You drink water. Your thirst is quenched. That's better. You listen to your thoughts. Hmmmm how do you feel today. You pick up the pen from your bedside table. You love using this pen. You open your journal. It'll only take you five minutes. You write...
I am grateful for another day of life.
I am grateful for hearing the birds sing.
I am grateful for my warm cosy bed.
You think about all the things that would make the day great. A nice breakfast. No a great breakfast. Porridge, coconut milk, blueberries, mango, honey, flaxseeds. The works. You think about a long shower with your favourite soap. Standing under the water. Letting it flow and cascade over your body. You meditate. You embrace the stillness. You think about your morning walk. There's that podcast you've been meaning to catch up on. You think about you. You take your time. You check in. With you. You don't pick up the phone. Not yet. There's plenty of time for that. You block out the noise. You move away from distractions. You walk. You say good morning. Yes. It is. You make time for you. Why? Because you are important. You look after you. You get a feeling. What is that feeling? It's different. It's good.
It's a new day.
It's a new dawn.
It's a new life for me.
And I'm feeling good.
Good-Morning.
